UPDATED OJRHS Cheerleading Tryouts

Please see the changes to upcoming tryouts. The updates have been highlighted in yellow!

Families,

This year has been filled with challenges for all of us. Many new changes and policies have impacted our usual order and process of cheerleading workouts, tryouts, and events.  We appreciate your patience and understanding as we plan our 2020-2021 Wildcat Cheer season.

A pre-season meeting was held on July 12th to discuss the upcoming season. Please click this presentation to see our discussion points.

Tryouts will be held over a 3 day period of September 8th, 9th, and 10th from 4:00 - 6:00 pm in the auxiliary gym.  On September 8th and 9th tryout material will be taught / reviewed including sidelines (chants) and a brief dance. On September 10th athletes will perform their material for evaluation.  In addition to the above mentioned material, your athlete will perform any tumbling skills they have at the time of tryouts.

A cumulative score will be tallied in the following categories: sidelines (chants), jumps, dance, and overall attitude/energy.  Due to the unusual circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we have decided to make the dance available and downloadable prior to and during tryouts. You/ your athlete should come to tryouts knowing the dance. Sidelines (chants) will be taught in person at tryouts.

Here is the music.

Here is the front view.

Here is the back view.

Here is the teaching video.

Knowing this is short notice, we will have some flexibility if you are not available during the tryout dates.  Please email me at mhertzog@ojrsde.net if your athlete is facing a conflict for these dates.

Pre-registration for tryouts is required. Please register for fall sports via the Owen J Roberts Athletic website no later than August 10th.

Best,

Coach Marli & Coach Jess

OJRHS Cheerleading Tryouts POSTPONED

This is a copy of an email sent to parents and athletes on August 6th:

Hello Cheerleaders and Families,

This is an update on the changes that have come about regarding fall sports. Today (August 6th), the Pioneer Athletic Conference (our athletic governing body), voted to postpone the start of the fall season to September 7th. This guidance applies to all schools belonging to the PAC; the OJR School District will follow these regulations while also making decisions based on our community's specific needs.

This unfortunately means the postponement of our tryouts. We cannot yet confirm new tryout dates, but because they will now be during the school year, they will need to move to an afternoon/ evening tryout. Please plan accordingly.

When we have additional information regarding the start of fall sports and tryouts, we will be sure to email you. Thank you so much for your understanding! Please know we are saddened to hear the season has been pushed back, but the safety of our athletes, families, and staff is of the utmost importance to us and the district as whole.
